SPECIAL NOTICE RE: EMERGENCY & AFTERHOURS CARE
03-30-2026 -- A notice to our valued clients regarding emergency and after-hours veterinary care. Unfortunately, Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital (CIVEH) continues to be operating on limited business hours until a staffing shortage can be resolved.
Dr. Saefkow will continue to be available via telephone to attend emergencies for our clients. In the event of an after hours emergency, please call the clinic at 250-757-9911 and wait for the answering machine to provide Dr. Hanna's cell phone number. Please, no text messages -- we kindly request CALLS ONLY.
Please note: if Dr. Hanna cannot be reached, CIVEH will be open Friday to Tuesday mornings. For Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday nights Fantastic Beasts Veterinary in Parksville (250-947-1763) & Mahalo Veterinary Hospital in Nanaimo (1-250-824-1444) will be accepting after hours emergency calls.
While we admit this is not an ideal situation, we are ever grateful to the devoted network of surrounding veterinary hospitals. Thank you all for your patience as we navigate this obstacle together.
